Maritime Marine is a small, family-owned business, home based in New England where, as Marc Grove said recently "They build boats as if their lives depended on them." They mold their hulls in Maine and finish them to dealer specs in Pembroke, Massachusetts. (see slide show of Maritime Boat Works here.)
Their boats are strong and seaworthy while still being relatively light weight, and perform well with moderate sized engines. They are noted in the northeast for their dry ride, shallow draft, and seaworthiness.(see slide show of some Maritime Sea Trials here.)
These simple, dependable boats range in size from 14' to 23', and come in a variety of models from center consoles, center cabins (what we know as Pilothouse Boats), and a new line of full cuddies.
Maritime is owned by two industry veterans, Paul Hureau and his wife, Bev Brown. No strangers to the marine business, Paul & Bev together have over 60 years marine experience. Paul is a graduate of Massachusetts Maritime Academy; thus the company name Maritime. He's a retired Coast Guard Captain, and has been messing around in small boats since his childhood vacations in coastal Maine.
They build 12 different models of Maritime boats. Beginning in 2008, Maritimes are now covered by a ten year limited non-prorated and transferable warranty for boats used recreationally.
Maritimes combine traditional New England looks with modern construction techniques and state-of-the-art bottom designs. These wide-beamed, unsinkable boats are easily maintained, operate efficiently with low-to-moderate-sized engines and are convenient to rig and service.
All Maritimes have a unique hull design. The bottom has all the sea-keeping features of offshore fishing boats, including spray deflecting lift strakes, wide chines and a variable deadrise bottom. As a result, they run very flat, keeping the bow in the water and have proven to be exceptionally seaworthy due to their rounded bows and curved transoms. You'll see and feel these features during a test ride.
